Ingredients
- 2-3 strips bacon
- 4 cups shredded red cabbage (one small head)
- 1 medium apple (like a granny smith)
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1-1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp caraway seed
Method
- Dice the bacon and slowly cook over medium heat in a medium sized pot until the fat is rendered out.
- Add the shredded cabbage and the peeled, cored, and diced apple. Add the remaining ingredients and deglaze the pot. Simmer over low heat for about an hour.
