The Story

This was something that we used to eat on Saturday nights at our house growing up. I'm not sure how many batches of this crust and sauce my mom used to make, but it was always an assembly line with the entire family pitching in ... except for dad, he watched Wide World of Sports..but he worked hard all week so we let him get away with it.

Ingredients

Crust

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • Simple Pizza Sauce:

Sauce

  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (adjust because canned sauce can be salty)
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano

Method

Crust

  1. Sift dry ingredients together.
  2. Add wet ingredients. Stir together to form dough.
  3. Roll out onto cookie sheet.
  4. Add sauce and favorite pizza toppings.

Sauce

  1. Mix all ingredients together well.

Good to Know

I recommend making the sauce ahead of the crust so it had a chance for the flavors to meld.
