Mom's Pie Crust | Peri's Place For Recipes

Ingredients

  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 3/4 cups shortening
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup ICE COLD water
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbs white vinegar

Method

  1. Mix dry ingredients gently. When the shortening has been incorporated and it looks like small peas, you are done.
  2. Mix wet ingredients in a measure cup, whisk egg well. Slowly add wet ingredients, you may not need all. Add just enough to bring the dough together.
  3. Bring into a ball, or divide into discs. Place into a freezer bag, or wrap with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least one hour.
